H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum

Lieutenant General H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and Public Services, Group Chairman of A.R.M. Holding and President of AlWasl Sports Club.

Upon graduating from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed joined the Central Military base in Dubai to later become the Commander in Chief of the Central Military base. Under his leadership, the Central Military base developed into one of the leading military bases in the United Arab Emirates.

He is the fourth and youngest son of the late vice president and ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the founder and visionary architect of Dubai. and the youngest brother of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and Ruler of Dubai.

In early 90’s H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum established Jabal Ali racecourse to promote horse racing in UAE To be an extension of the trek of the U.A.E. in the world of horseracing. His highness launched AlAdiyat and Dubai Horse Racing Centre in support of the industry. He and his team helped develop the handicapping system and other rules of racing. His highness claimed his first win in 1982 whith his first horse, Wasl, wining the Irish 2000 Guineas.

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum was heavily involved in creating and launching Dubai international marine club and served as the 1st chairman of the club in 1988. The club became the first in the middle east and Africa to be a member in UIM. and founding the victory team in 1989.

The godfather of AlWasl club

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, president of Al Wasl Club, one of the leaders of the sports movement in U.A.E. and founded AlWasl in a small house in Za’abeel in 1960, to become a Champions Club, In 1962 AlZamalek moved afterword’s to Sheikha Medea Bint Sultan house under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Rashid AL Maktoum and Sheikh Butti Bin Maktoum AL Maktoum, A member of the team has kindly requested His highness to be the president of the club at the time and he was pleased to welcome the idea. His Highness played a big role in the spread of many sports in the country, he gives opportunity to anyone wants to be successful in the sports industry, which makes him an exceptional president for AlWasl Club, where it gained all appreciation and support for achieving the aspirations and hopes of the Emperor’s fans.

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has been the president of the club for 60 years, his highness formed the first board of directors of AlZamalek Club (AlWasl S.C. now) in 1962, and his highness was Chairman of the club’s board of directors until 1974.

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the president of Al Wasl Sports Club, is whom the Waslawi fans learned to love AlWasl, His Highness name was closely attached to AlWasl since a newborn called "AlZamalek" at the time, he was associated with the club as a player and then as a leader and a strong supporter to our moment, until AlWasl became a fortress that attracted the most breathtaking victories and glories. Under his wise leadership, AlWasl found the path to become one of the best Emirati club in UAE, Gulf and Asia at all levels and sports.

The president of AlWasl club has an unusual love story with the yellow castle, as he follows every action happens in our country’s football to his beloved Za’abeel stadium.

The bond of the Waslawi family is very strong and one of the reasons of the club's success in football’s history.

With his wisdom leadership, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the president of AlWasl Sports Club, his highness had a long-term vision for the future of the club during his visit to the Emperor’s headquarters for winning the GCC Champions league. with his valuable words to AlWasl “cheetah’s”.

He said “I congratulate you on winning the GCC champions league and you did not disappoint. I watched you in all matches of the championship and I enjoyed your high performance. The Gulf title is a strong motivation for AlWasl team in the future, and in various championships, always you have to look on forward and the bright future. You should not put your failure of your performance or bad results on the club’s board or coach to justify the loss or failure to obtain championships and notable results, I hope that this championship is a point for harmony and love among everyone in the club”.
