Al Wasl was crowned with the title of "Super Shield" part of the competitions of the 2025 UAE-Qatar Super Cup after defeating its host, Al Sadd, with a score of 1-0 at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in the Qatari capital, Doha.
Al Wasl started the match strongly, dominating the course of play, and South Korean Seunghyun Jung almost scored the first goal with a header that went over the crossbar in the 16th minute.
The Emperor continued their superiority, and Ali Saleh threatened Al Sadd’s goal with a dangerous ball in the 41st minute, which the defense cleared to a corner.
In the second half, Al Wasl continued the pressure, and Nicolas Gimenez scored Al Wasl’s goal with a powerful shot from outside the penalty area after a pass from Swiss Haris Seferovic, placing it into Al Sadd’s net. Al Sadd pushed forward to equalize, but Al Wasl’s defense thwarted their attempts, ending the match with the Emperor’s victory by one goal to none.
