Al Wasl Sports Club organized a workshop titled "Sports Integrity and Anti-Doping" for the club's first football team, along with the technical and administrative staff, in collaboration with the UAE Pro League . The session was led by Mr. Ghanem Saleh, Legal Advisor to UAE Pro League.
During the workshop, topics related to match-fixing were addressed, including the legal consequences for players or football coaches involved in such practices. Additionally, the mechanisms to protect players from becoming entangled in actions that could be considered match-fixing were explained.It was also explained how to report any cases of match-fixing if they occur through any third party.
Regarding betting on match results, players were educated about the risks of betting, its illegality, and the penalties associated with it. Examples of previous cases were presented, highlighting the legal consequences faced by those involved.
At the conclusion of the workshop, discussions were held on doping, its negative impacts on players' health, and the legal consequences if a player consumes any prohibited substances.
A list of banned substances from the websites of the National Anti-Doping Agency and the World Anti-Doping Agency was reviewed. Players were provided with an explanation of the legal procedures that protect them when taking medications or dietary supplements. The importance of directly consulting the club doctor was emphasized to avoid any legal consequences.
